What’s the Story Baby Haven’t You Heard? I Got Love Back Home But You Don’t Wanna Hear That, Do You? You Don’t Wanna Hear That, Do You?

My mom has been asking questions non-stop. It is quite annoying.

Show is tonight. I'm really looknig forward to it.

As promised, here is page 1 of that jorunal thingy I've been keeping.

Christmas Day, 5:25PM EST

It's 5:25 PM and I am sitting in the airport, 2 hours early, waiting to board. Flight 619. Seat 25A. Service to Chicago Midway Airport. There is a football game playing in the background (Eagles vs. Cowboys, 7-0 Eagles, first quarter) harmonized by the occasional squeal of an infant. Nothing is really happening right now...The lady speaks over the intercom, her booming voice yelling that the gates are closing and will not reopen. The baby has stopped crying, and I can hear the slight tinkling of Christmas music intermingling with various conversations happening in a nearby cafe. Nothing out of the ordinary. I am one of only 6 people in the waiting area. Exciting, huh?

There is a woman in blue jeans and a dark red sweater. She is waving out the window and looks as if she is about to cry. I watch for a moment, but suddenly 3 more people show up and sit in front of me. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. Get up. Leave. Good.

A woman is walking towards the waiting area for Gate 4. While on her way, she drops a Christmas bag and all of its contents spill. I feel bad about the woman's misfortune and I want to get up and help, but she has a stern face. I stay seated. As soon as everything has been collected, she stands up and walks back in the opposite directions. She's totally out of sight now.

I glance back up and the woman in the red sweater begins to wave again. She give the "I Love You" hand sign and stares. She stares, following the airplane's backing motion with her eyes. Just staring. Staring. Staring out the window. Now at nothing. Staring. Staring.

Just staring.

It's An Awkward Hello In the Least...

I am typing this from computer 13 in Frankfort Public Library.

I am on Day 3 of my trip to Chicago. 3 more to go.

It's been just as bad as expected, but it should begin to pick up tomorrow at around 6PM, which is when I go to see a really cool show. I know half of the people playing and they have invited me out to coffee after the show, so it should be fun.

I have missed 2 opportunities to hang out with people I haven't seen in forever. It makes me sad.

I have begun to write a zine or something of the sort while up here. I'll post the first page of it tomorrow (or whenever I get around to it). It's not very exciting, but hey, it's something to do.

Well, that's all for now, as I have under 5 minutes left on this computer. Hope everyone back at home is doing well.

This Holiday Is Over Rated....

Whew, past few days have been fun.

I got my hair cut. It's kinda weird, but it's growing on me.

I've spent the past 3 days hanging out at Trey's house with Mark, John, Clay, Sara, and Trey. It has been quite nice. Fun, fun, fun. I hated to leave today.

Now I'm at home. Getting ready to pack for Chicago. If anyone wants anything, speak now.

Merry Christmas.

There I Sat...Skipping Rocks Into the Sunset, Wondering Who I Was and Who I'd Turn Out To Be...

The show last night was pretty fun. We had to wait to get started for like an hour because Danny decided to just not show up. He didn't call anyone or anything. That made Alex have to go back to his house and get the PA. That was at about 7. Then we had to get everything set up and no one would leave me alone for 3 seconds. Dave asked me the same questions non-stop. Anyway, once we got started, things went fairly fast. GMST did better than usual (which isn't saying much), Lily played fairly well (and sold a good amount of merch! Yay!), Rollie did well as well, Alex played the worst I've seen him, but he still sounded good, Dave & I sounded pretty good for not having practiced in 6 months, and Mount Awesome were pretty awesome. After the show, Lily and Mount Awesome came and crashed at my house and left at about 8:30 this morning. Fun stuff. If anyone missed the show, but wants stuff, I will be seeing them on December 28th in Chicago. Lemme know what you want and I'll pick it up for you. Mount Awesome shirts = 5bucks(?), CD's = $6-8, Patches = $1 / Inertia shirts = 7bucks, CD's = 2bucks(for the Four-Way Split), 10bucks ("No Joking," the full-length), buttons = 50cents.

Also, I got bored just a little bit ago and took one of those online quiz things. It seems to be fairly accurate.

I Don't Want Anything For Christmas, Except For the World To Be Happy...

Friday: My birthday. Somehow, quite a few random people knew it was my birthday. Pretty cool, but kinda weird, y'know? I mainly got cash as gifts which is great, because I can do whatever I want with it. Fastforward to the show. It didn't really go as well as planned (I was expecting like 5 more people, but they were either a) out of town or b) at the basketball game), but it was still pretty fun. I don't think Trey and Mark really liked Evan and his friend much, though, and I'm not sure why. That led to them staying at my house, which kinda sucked because my house is boring. But yea, Trey was like, "You can stay, but they can't," which I thought was kinda lame. They were telling me just to ditch them at my house too. I couldn't do that to company, let alone some friends of mine. Anyway, yea, Evan and his friend (I totally forgot his name) crashed at my house that night and left at around 2 the next afternoon. I feel really bad about the show kinda sucking, but Evan said it happens...He said that the whole tour thus far has pretty much been like this, and that's what he gets for waiting 'til Christmas break to tour. They were really cool though, I wound up getting 7 CD's for 30 bucks. Oh, and also! If anyone that reads this wasn't at the show and wants me to pick them up a CD or something, let me know! I'm going to be seeing Nice & Friendly, redbear., Inertia!, Mount Awesome, Life Under a Tree, and Or So It Goes in Chicago on the 28th. I'll pick up whatever you want and bring it back. Trust me, it'd beat having to deal with shipping via mail. Pretty much all of the CD's are 5bucks, shirts are 9(?), buttons are free (I think)...So yea! If you have any interest in that, lemme know! I recommend the When All the World Sleeps "Live On Radio 1 Chicago" CD (I think this may actually be free), the Nice & Friendly full-length, and "The Safest Place To Hide A Book," by Russ Substance.

Anyway, after Evan left (around 3), I went up to Ingles and bagged groceries and whatnot for the band fundraiser. It actually wasn't too too bad. Afterwards, I went over to Nate Saunders's house. Nate is probably the nicest person I know. Anyway, me and a few other people went over there and we watched a movie, played Guitar Hero, and ate cookies. I ended up getting home just a little before midnight. It was quite nice.

Today, I woke up at 10 and went to my Aunt's house because she wanted to do a Christmas dinner for my dad's side of the family (she's on my mom's side). I ending up having to ride down there with my dad, his girlfriend, and her two kids. Man are they annoying. Well...Their voices are more annoying than anything else. Country twang to the max. And one of them talks about stupid crap ALL. THE. TIME. But whatever. It was decently fun, I guess.

Anyway, I think that's about it for today. Show Tuesday. 6:30PM at Black and Gold. 7 bands. Should be over before 10.

Take care.

Morning Sunlight, You're Never Quite As Fair In the Bright Lights of the City...If I Had A Good Mind, It'd Say Don't Get Used To Havin' You Around...

My weekend has been pretty fun so far. Friday night was great.

In case you didn't know, on Friday night I went down to Under the Couch with Kalisa and Josh to see foreverdown, Taking Lottie Home, and Josh Fletcher & the Six-Shot Romance. Let me be the first to say, fullband foreverdown is quite awesome. Taking Lottie Home did really, really well too. Josh Fletcher's set though...I dunno...Usually I like his sets...This one just kinda bored me. Anyway, yea, it was fun because I just talked to Taking Lottie Home and Josh Fletcher's band basically the whole time. They seemed genuinely happy to see me, which I thought was quite cool. I'm definitely ready for the February 2nd show. That's also the date I'm aiming to have "The Blairsville Sessions" out by. CD Release Party, perhaps?

Today, I mainly just sat around. It wasn't too bad. I got bored and wrote a new song, and worked on part of another...Here's the new one.

Cold days are here
And the changing leaves
Will change our hearts for good
Our path has been covered by the Fall
And by next Spring will be changed

This path is too far gone to even see at all
And as we sit watching our lives pass by
I can't help but wonder
Exactly what went wrong

Here's to teary-eyed goodbyes extended to you. And here's to the past few months we've been slipping through. Here's to late night drives and roads never to be taken again. Here's to the memories, and here...Here is to you.

Aaaand, that's it. Hopefully recording a rough version of it it soon. As for now, I'm out.

If You Throw A Party, You Know I'll Be There...

Pretty good weekend.

At about 1:30 on Saturday, I went and met up with the rest of C^3 at Downtown. We talked, laughed, and generally had fun. After that, we headed down to the bandroom to get ready to march the parade. I had the coolest Santa hat ever. Anyway, we marched the parade and it was quite boring.

After the parade came the show that I promoted 1%. There were 6 people there. Yay. At least Trey will leave me alone now.

Once the show was over, me, Johnny, Mark, and Bethany all went back to Trey's house. What a night. We did pretty much everything that we usually do, plus more. Fun, fun, fun. The only bad part: I am now quite sore from playing football.
